Your main goal as a copywriter is to deliver fresh, creative thinking across multiple platforms on a consistent basis. You can work somewhat independently and, more often than not, your concepts don’t need a lot of reworking or direction from creative leaders. You’re working to put “senior” in front of your title because that’s what lets everyone know you’re a leader and someone they can go to for greatness.
- Learn how to determine which ideas are worth pursuing and which aren’t.
- Follow Brand guidelines while learning how to push them.
- Develop portfolio-worthy concepts regularly.
- Turn feedback from supervisors into even better work.
- Write short and long copy with style, insight, wit, and flair.
- Excel at writing everything from video and print to websites and social.
- Rigorously self-edit with attention to tone, brevity, and clarity—make every single word count.
CREATIVE THINGS YOU’LL DO.
- Learn and use our “Unstuffy” voice. Financial firms are supposed to sound a certain way, right? Wrong! We are humans talking to humans, so we write like humans.
- Deliver effective, engaging ideas based on human truths because see above.
- Brainstorm, create, and develop executions from a creative brief.
- Develop first-round ideas that more often than not need little shaping from leadership—a.k.a. nail the brief.
- Engage in meetings, collaborate well with others, and offer to lend a hand wherever needed—a team player in every way.
- Build strong, productive relationships with agency partners and marketing partners.
- Manage time and hit deadlines while managing multiple projects.
- Solve marketing partner problems by thinking strategically, implementing past feedback, and applying data and knowledge about the user.
- Ask smart and challenging questions that help your team get closer to reaching your marketing partner’s needs and goals.
- Present and sell creative to marketing partners by owning the room, explaining why the creative works, and does so with confidence and excitement.
- Be daring enough to make mistakes (few as they may be), smart enough to learn from them, and brave enough to ask for help.
- Be eager to learn from coworkers, marketing partners, C2 departments, tech platforms, and award books.
- Approach each project with a positive, “we can make this great” frame of mind.
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience.
- Agency experience is prioritized.
- Portfolio Required: Demonstrating advertising copywriting skills. Portfolio should contain; Headlines, Ad copy, Conceptual thinking, Different writing tones (witty, serious, humorous), Work that demonstrates the ability to write for different audiences, Samples in various advertising mediums (Print, Outdoor, Email, Social, Digital, TV). Copy should be conversational, engaging, and human-centric (not overly corporate or robotic).
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $41.99 to $46.66/Hourly (W2). Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
