We’re seeking a Technical Content Designer for a contract role on our Games Developer team. This role is responsible for crafting developer documentation, creating a best-in-class experience for people developing games. Candidates should have experience in Content Design, UX, and Technical Writing, with the ability to multitask while working in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment. We’re particularly seeking someone who is self-motivated, proactive, and highly organized, with excellent attention to detail. This role will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, particularly with engineers, to ingest and synthesize complex technical information. The ideal candidate has a passion for, and deep knowledge of, games and games development.
Your Skills
- You have experience working in Git
- You’re comfortable writing in markup languages (Markdown and some HTML)
- You’re an expert in partnering with engineers / game developers to craft documentation
- You’re familiar with the development of design systems and language frameworks
- You communicate productively with visual thinkers and will be comfortable advocating for your point of view in our candid, feedback-driven culture
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to create, synthesize, format, revise, and update the information that game developers need to integrate and use the orgs Games Platform, orgs Software Development Kit (SDK), and APIs
- Build on the information architecture, the voice & tone, the style guide, and general best practices for the presentation of technical information
- Create a standard workflow for how the information is ingested from our org’s games platform engineers and then presented to game developers
- Build on the rubric for how changes to the documentation are communicated to cross-functional teams, as well as external game developer partners (e.g. release notes for new builds and updates)
- Work closely with the Product Design team to understand the platform features implemented within the Product UI, in order to ensure the relevant context is presented to the game developers in a useful and usable way
- Present the Content Design work to key stakeholders, team members, and other Content Designers and Writers for visibility and feedback
Qualifications
- 5+ years relevant writing experience: technical writing, documentation writing, UX writing, content design, information architecture
- Experience working on documentation with an engineering or UX team
- Ability to work autonomously and make strategic decisions independently
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and people skills
- Enthusiasm and passion for games and game development, and helping our game developers bring our orgs Games to members all around the world
- Expertise with games content preferred
This is a contract position. While this role is fully remote, there are regular required meetings during west-coast working hours. This role reports to the Content Design Manager on the Games team.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $99 to $110 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
