Our large, financial services client is seeking a Mobile Interaction Designer to join their Digital Design team. In this Consultant role, you will shape the experiences they create through their mobile application. You’ll work within an agile environment and iterative process, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members and stakeholders to analyze, design and convey your design vision. A natural problem solver, communicator and facilitator, you’ll be involved in every step of the process from idea generation to implementation.
What you would work on:
- Collaborate with a Content Design, Visual Designer a Design Researcher to solve client problems through design thinking
- Propose and participate in user research to help define the problem they are solving
- Work with the product team to translate product strategy into a design
- Propose and participate in user testing of designs
- Work with the Component team to create reusable design elements and patterns
- Present your work to the wider team and take feedback frequently
Interaction Design Strategy
- Understand user interface patterns and behaviours in a native mobile application, and use that understanding to drive user comprehension, and improve task performance
- Use visualizations and interactions to support analytic thinking with large data sets
- Facilitate design critique, evaluate interactions for inclusivity and provide expert advice and guidance to cross-functional teams
- Facilitate ideation sessions and collaborative work activities
- Act as the interaction design subject-matter expert for the product design team
Interaction Artifact Creation
- Use a comprehensive understanding of interaction design theory, research data and best practices to inform design decisions
- Design artifacts of high complexity to communicate task flows, touchpoints, behaviours, and the exchange of information
- Create complex low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to explore, communicate, and validate ideas.
- Create complex prototypes to provide delivery specifications for development
- Present interaction design work to more senior stakeholders
Research and Testing
- Facilitate usability testing
- Participate in or initiate research activities
- Research interaction design strategies in the financial services sector and perform competitive audits pertinent to specific design or business goals
- Perform pattern, micro-interaction and component design audits where appropriate
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing usable interfaces across multiple channels and platforms, Native mobile app experience is required
- Experience using Figma to create documents for cross-functional partners (dev, architecture and QA teams) to use.
- An understanding of native patterns and trends in iOS and Android.
- A systems thinker: an ability to learn the tech systems that support the designs
- Ability to clearly articulate the client and the business problem, and to make design decisions based on them.
- Ability to identify what needs to tested and what needs to measured in production.
- Design system experience
- Demonstrated expertise with design, prototyping, and research tools such as Figma, Mural, UserTesting.com
- BA/BS degree in Design or a related field or equivalent practical experience
Nice to have
- Knowledge of Financial terms and concepts, like how revolving credit works
- Previous experience launching new and updated features or native mobile applications
- Experience working within a large organization on a high-profile project and within a fast-paced, agile environment
