Community Engagement Specialist / Facilitation Consultant

Please note, this role is 3 days a month (2 days remote and 1 day onsite in Westminster, CA)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Panel Meetings: Lead discussions with community leaders from disadvantaged and low-income communities, ensuring that all voices are heard.
  • Educate Panel Members: Provide foundational learning about the EPIC program, its objectives, and project proposals.
  • Community Outreach: Develop strategies to effectively engage and solicit feedback from local communities.
  • Advisory Role: Help the panel identify community needs and recommend project designs that are equitable and beneficial.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Record meeting minutes, summarize discussions, and document the panel’s feedback and recommendations for SCE’s project teams.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in Community Engagement: Proven track record of working with disadvantaged communities, particularly in energy or environmental sectors.
  • Strong Facilitation Skills: Ability to guide discussions, encourage participation, and foster collaborative decision-making.
  • Knowledge of Equity and Social Justice: Understanding of environmental social justice principles, especially as they relate to energy initiatives.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively relay complex information to diverse audiences.

Objectives for the Role:

  • Ensure the advisory panel meets its deliverables and objectives, such as active participation in discussions and contributions to community benefits plans.
  • Help achieve spending benchmarks of 25% for disadvantaged communities and 10% for low-income communities through informed decision-making and community support.

Success Metrics:

  • Regular attendance and engagement from panel members.
  • Documented recommendations from the panel that influence project planning.
  • Positive feedback from community members regarding the engagement process.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $40 to $45 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
