We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Digital Interaction Designer to join our client’s team in Toronto on a *hybrid basis*. This Consultant role, you will be pivotal in supporting their various digital initiatives. As an integral part of a cross-functional team, you will work closely with various stakeholders and the design vendor to deliver outstanding digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Complex Projects: Drive the design process for intricate projects, delivering both interaction design and visual artifacts for web and mobile platforms.
  • Design System Alignment: Ensure all design outputs align with their Design System, and focus on client-first experiences.
  • Collaborative Execution: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Product, Business, Analytics, and Insights to create client experiences that are simple, relevant, and inspiring.
  • Usability Testing: Conduct and oversee end-to-end usability testing studies to refine and enhance product interfaces.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Use your storytelling skills to inform and influence design decisions, presenting sound experience design recommendations.
  • Technical and Market Guidance: Provide domain fluency and technical expertise to guide team members and stakeholders, making informed decisions on complex and ambiguous problems.

Success Criteria

  • Simplify Complex Applications: Simplify the processes and user navigation for their digital products, making them more accessible and user-friendly.
  • Strengthen Relationships: Foster strong collaborative relationships with partners across Product, Business, Analytics, and Insights teams to ensure design initiatives are aligned with business objectives.
  • Deliver Client-First Experiences: Create digital interactions that are informative, contextual, timely, and inspiring, ultimately enhancing the overall client experience.

Must-Have Skills

  1. Technical Expertise: Strong depth and breadth in Interaction Design practice theory and tools.
  2. Digital Product Design: Proven experience in designing and launching digital products.
  3. Usability Testing: Proficiency in conducting and analyzing usability testing studies (UserTesting.com)
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working in cross-functional teams and agile environments.
  5. Storytelling: Ability to effectively present and communicate design recommendations to influence decisions.
  6. TOOLS/Softwares: Demonstrated expertise with design, prototyping, and research tools such as Figma, Mural, UserTesting.com

Nice-to-Have Skills

  1. Financial Industry Experience: Experience within the financial industry and self-directed brokerage.
  2. UX Research Methods: Hands-on experience with various UX research methods.
  3. Systems Thinking: Ability to understand and apply systems thinking to design processes.

Team and Skill Development

  • Experience Level: The team consists of professionals with 4-7 years and 7-10 years of experience.
  • Skill Development: Opportunities to build skills in Product Strategy, Experience Metrics, Strategic UX Research, Influencing, and Design Systems.

Language Proficiency

  • English: Must be proficient in both written and verbal communication.
