About the Role:
In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and optimizing data solutions that support critical business functions. You’ll work within an agile environment, collaborating closely with product owners and business partners to translate complex requirements into scalable, high-performance data systems. Your contributions will span the entire data lifecycle, from architectural design and technology evaluation to pipeline implementation and operational excellence, ensuring the delivery of reliable and insightful data products.
What You’ll Do:
- Contribute to the design and implementation of cutting-edge data products and features, collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum setting.
- Help define and evolve overall architecture, frameworks, and patterns for processing and storing massive data volumes.
- Participate in the evaluation of new technologies, tools, and frameworks focused on high-volume data processing.
- Translate product backlog items into actionable engineering tasks and solutions.
- Implement distributed data processing pipelines using industry-standard tools and languages within the big data ecosystem.
- Develop utilities, user-defined functions, libraries, and frameworks to enhance data flow patterns and efficiency.
- Partner with engineering leads and other teams to ensure the implementation of high-quality solutions and adherence to engineering best practices.
- Build and integrate automated unit tests, actively participating in integration testing efforts.
- Utilize and advance continuous integration and deployment frameworks to streamline development.
- Troubleshoot complex data issues and perform thorough root cause analysis.
- Collaborate across teams to resolve operational and performance challenges in data systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in large-scale software development, with at least 5 years specifically in big data.
- Proficiency in programming, with a strong preference for Python or Scala.
- Extensive experience working with big data processing frameworks such as Spark, and data warehousing concepts like Hive.
- Experience with messaging, streaming, and complex event processing tools and frameworks.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, SQL, and advanced SQL Analytical functions.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow.
- Familiarity with source code control tools such as Git.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
- A keen interest and proven ability to quickly learn new languages, technologies, and frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in Agile/Scrum application development methodologies.
- A strong desire to work collaboratively, solve challenging problems, and deliver results in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills.
- A passion for continuous learning and knowledge sharing with peers.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with Java.
- Experience working in a public cloud environment, particularly with major cloud providers and data platforms.
- Experience with cloud-native data warehouse tools.
- Familiarity with NoSQL data stores.
- Experience building RESTful APIs to enable data consumption.
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools and automation tools for CI/CD.
- Experience with practices like Continuous Development, Continuous Integration, and Automated Testing.
