We are looking for a Lead Technical Designer for our Global retail client. Candidates must have experience with CLO, Optitex, or similar tools. This will be a 9-month hybrid engagement in Beaverton, OR, starting in early November.  You’ll shape the future of athletic apparel, collaborating with design, product management, and manufacturing teams to bring innovative concepts to life. Your expertise in technical design will be crucial in crafting high-performance apparel, enabling athletes to perform at their peak. This is your chance to make a tangible impact on the athletic world, contributing to the development of cutting-edge apparel that empowers athletes worldwide. Your passion for fit, construction, and innovation will be instrumental in driving the creation of apparel that sets new standards in performance and style.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine technical specifications for apparel, ensuring meticulous documentation of product specs and prototype notes.
  • Implement and uphold fit and construction standards across a designated product group, guaranteeing consistency and quality.
  • Oversee the prototyping process, ensuring timely development and adherence to critical dates, product specifications, sustainability targets, performance benchmarks, and profitability goals.
  • Proactively identify and resolve construction and manufacturing challenges, ensuring the delivery of rigorously tested and proven products.
  • Monitor and communicate progress and obstacles throughout product testing, guaranteeing adherence to product integrity standards.
  • Lead fit sessions, confidently presenting to audiences and providing expert guidance.
  • Collaborate closely with design teams, participate in athlete feedback sessions, and work hand-in-hand with the Apparel Weartest Team to shape the future of athletic apparel.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical design, textile science, or a related field, or equivalent experience in product creation.
  • Experience with CAD Pattern Design software (Optitex) and 3D software (Clo/Browzwear).
  • 8+ years of technical design experience in the apparel industry, encompassing the entire development process from concept to production, including pattern making, grading, construction, materials, costing, manufacturing, and quality control.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to interpret design intent, propose alternative solutions, and serve as a technical resource.
  • Expertise in writing product specifications and construction standards instructions.
  • Proficiency in working with factory vendors to ensure and enhance manufacturability.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Experience using Adobe Illustrator.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time (domestic and international).

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $43.00 to $48 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors, including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
