Technical Writer
Overview
Placement Type:
Temporary
Salary:
$40-45 per hour W2 DOE
Start Date:
08.11.2025
We’re searching for an experienced technical writer to join our team and help take our client-focused services to new heights. As an ideal candidate, you have proven experience writing technical documentation for software products, ideally in a highly technical field, such as software development or engineering. Your ability to evaluate and analyze complex information is second to none, and you have a natural desire to help people understand things that are hard to understand.
Role:
• Create developer-facing documentation for our client’s Open Banking API products, as part of creating a first-class developer experience.
• Obtain a deep understanding of the products and services and translate complex product information into simple, readable, and engaging content.
• Evaluate current content and suggest approaches for improvement.
• Research, outline, write, and edit new and existing content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements.
• Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.
Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years experience writing technical documentation, support articles or knowledge base content for a technical audience
• Good written and spoken English, and an ability to interact with team members in both product and technical roles.
• Understanding of APIs and the software development process.
• The ability to act as a customer advocate and suggest where improvements to the developer experience can be made.
Desirable:
• Experience with REST APIs and Open API specifications (Swagger).
• Experience with the docs-as-code approach to documentation. We work in markdown and git.
• The ability to read and understand simple code examples or some background knowledge about web programming. We’re not looking for a full-time programmer, but our target audience are software developers so an understanding of how APIs and SDKs are used by developers will be useful.
• The aptitude to try out web applications and APIs while documenting them so you can understand and then document how they really work, and to give feedback when things don’t work as they should, or are difficult to use.
About You:
• Bachelor’s degree (either in a relevant technical subject or English, journalism, technical communication, etc.)
• Industry experience as an effective technical writer.
• Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics.
• Previous experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Experience working with engineering to document an API, with an eye for optimizing how a developer would interact with the documentation.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $40 to $45. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
