Join a pioneering team developing cutting-edge technology as a Software Test Engineer! You will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and performance of immersive experiences. Your expertise in environment testing will be essential to delivering a seamless and polished final product. Partnering with a leading technology client through Aquent, you’ll collaborate closely with development teams, providing early testing, creating comprehensive documentation, and offering valuable feedback to shape the future of interactive entertainment.

As a Software Test Engineer, you will be immersed in a dynamic development environment, collaborating closely with development teams to conduct rigorous testing across multiple development cycles. Your primary focus will be on environment testing, ensuring that every detail contributes to a captivating player experience. You will be instrumental in identifying and resolving issues related to cover functionality, collision and geometry, navmesh, assets, set dressing, text and signage, LOD and texture quality, lighting and shadows, content load, VFX quality, and vistas.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive testing of game environments across multiple development cycles.
  • Identify and document issues related to cover functionality, collision, geometry, navmesh, assets, set dressing, text, signage, LOD, textures, lighting, shadows, content load, VFX, and vistas.
  • Create detailed test cases and test briefs to guide the testing process.
  • Provide feedback to QA leads and development teams on the health and testing status of features.
  • Collaborate with QA and production teams to ensure effective communication and issue resolution.
  • Estimate testing efforts and contribute to project planning.
  • Continuously learn and develop skills in new technologies and testing methodologies.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Experience in multiple development cycles, with a focus on environment testing.
  • Demonstrated understanding of various aspects of environment testing, including cover functionality, collision and geometry, navmesh, asset testing, set dressing and environment testing, text and signage testing, LOD and texture quality testing, lighting and shadows testing, content load and VFX quality testing, and vista testing.
  • Experience writing testing instructions and briefs.
  • Experience estimating testing efforts.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interface effectively with QA and production teams.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and refine existing skills.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Perforce, and SharePoint.
  • Adaptable teaching skills to cater to various learning styles.
  • Familiarity with relevant game titles within the genre.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $30/hr – $33/hr. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
