Overview

This is a hybrid role in Vancouver.
Pay Range: C$60/hr – C$67/hr​

As a VFX Artist, you’ll join a team of passionate and highly skilled professionals at a leading game development studio known for its groundbreaking work on critically acclaimed titles. Your expertise in real-time visual effects will be instrumental in bringing immersive and visually stunning game worlds to life. Collaborate with artists, engineers, and designers to craft cutting-edge effects that push the boundaries of what’s possible in interactive entertainment.

This is your chance to make a significant impact on a highly anticipated game. You will be a key contributor to the visual design, creating and implementing high-end real-time VFX using Unreal Engine. Your artistry will be essential in shaping the overall player experience, from explosive action sequences to subtle environmental details.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Lead VFX Artist, Art Director, Technical Artists, and Engineers to create stunning real-time VFX.
• Ensure VFX align with the game’s artistic style and technical requirements.
• Maintain clear communication with team members to ensure quality and consistency.
• Rapidly prototype VFX in collaboration with Tech Art and Engineering teams.
• Create high-quality visuals for gore, destruction, pyrotechnics, and weapon effects.
• Plan, estimate, and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Conduct R&D, gather references, and document processes.

Must-Have Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in video game development.
• Shipped at least one title as a VFX or Technical Artist.
• Portfolio showcasing real-time VFX in a photorealistic style.
• Relevant degree in Art/Design or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with particle systems workflows and shader creation (concept to optimization).
• Proficiency in industry-standard 3D content creation tools.
• Ability to receive and implement constructive feedback.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

• Experience with Unreal Engine (Niagara and Chaos Destruction).
• Houdini experience.
• Mel or Python scripting experience.
• Technical Art experience.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is up to C$67.13 per hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
