Our client’s Content Design Team is seeking a Brand & Design Guidelines Writer to create and maintain internal and external-facing Production Design Guidelines that support content creation across our Services, including Music, Podcasts, Books, and TV.

The Brand & Design Guidelines Writer will work closely with the Content Design Production Team, creating design resources and product documentation for internal and external partners. They will collaborate with design leads, program managers, and other creatives to develop and maintain a common language for production design guidelines across our Services. Responsibilities include establishing strategic direction and brand voice, writing and editing design documentation and instructions, and finding new ways to convey technical information through the voice of the brand for audiences of varying levels of skill.

This role will leverage accessible and inclusive language to create clear and engaging content for a variety of formats. This will include copywriting for both internal documentation and external web resources, in addition to scriptwriting for instructional video content. The role requires a strong facility with style, grammar, tone, and voice and the ability to apply those tools to shape and sharpen how the voice of the brand manifests through each detail. The work will require extremely detailed engagement and the ability to quickly spot errors and inconsistencies. The candidate will need to be able to balance multiple projects simultaneously and enjoy working with team members in different roles to iterate on a piece to the point of perfection.

A diplomatic approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to stay highly organized are all essential. The role requires continually identifying and amalgamating key details cross-functionally. The candidate must be skilled in pulling everything together and crafting ways to deliver the details in ways that feel compelling, easily approachable, and larger than the sum of their parts.

Experience:

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly skilled copywriter and scriptwriter who can distill complex ideas into clear, compelling messaging.
  • Extremely precise and agile with language.
  • Delights in the nuance of each word and detail.
  • Extensive brand-writing experience, forging and evolving brand voice across new and existing brands. Understanding and appreciation of design.
  • Relevant or translatable experience creating and implementing design guidance, instructional materials, and/or brand style guides.
  • Ability to translate technical details into colloquial, approachable instruction.
  • Expertise in applying storytelling structure to a diverse range of applications from design guidelines to instructional scripts to presentations ensuring clear, impactful flow and communication.
  • Adaptive to writing for audiences of varying design skill, from beginners to professionals.
  • Strategic and conceptual thinker. Skilled in helping forge strategic directions. Contributes to the big picture in every detail.
  • Collaborates well in a cross-functional environment.
  • Thrives in an iterative process, tracking and synthesizing a myriad of elements and learnings from collaborative partners.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills. Adaptive problem-solver in a quickly evolving environment. Ability to handle several projects simultaneously.
  • Consistently delivers highly thoughtful and impactful work.
  • Knows how to craft clear and compelling deck narratives for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Seamlessly flexes across different types of media and content.
  • 7+ years relevant writing, creative, and/or brand experience
  • Interest in new technologies and user-focused product experiences
  • Passion for brands and relentless in preserving their authenticity 

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $58.96 to $65.52 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
