As a Technical Support Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and maintenance of essential hardware components. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for quality assurance, focusing on minimizing damage to data center hardware. You will conduct inspections, testing, and repairs of critical components, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. This involves collaborating with site leadership to implement damage reduction strategies, verifying damaged parts, and escalating critical issues. Your contributions will be essential in maintaining the integrity of the data center environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform diagnostic tests and Post Package Repair (PPR) on DIMMs.
- Conduct specialized damage inspections and repairs of critical parts.
- Perform quick testing of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) for re-inventory.
- Verify damage reports and quarantine faulty components.
- Repair damaged parts, including cleaning thermal paste, straightening connectors, and replacing missing components.
- Audit handling, ESD processes, and packaging procedures within the data center.
Must-Haves:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in a technical field.
- General knowledge of electronic parts and components used in data center hardware (e.g., motherboards, DIMMs, hard drives, network cards, optics).
- First Level Failure Analysis (FA) capability for electronic parts.
- Familiarity with typical mechanical defects of electronic components and hardware.
- Ability to sit for extended periods conducting detailed inspections.
- Familiarity with inspection equipment like stereo microscopes and ring lights.
- Proficiency in using a PC for data recording and reporting.
- Ability to develop process instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and influence others.
- Ability to handle medium to heavy materials (lifting, pushing/pulling).
Nice-to-Haves:
- Quality Assurance background in the electronics industry.
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing server, storage, and networking products.
- Proficiency in spreadsheets and databases.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $31.25 to $34.73 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
