**This role is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Authorized candidates living in Ontario who can work in office 3 times/week on a T4 basis are a great fit. Not able to consider remote or C2C candidates.**
Our large financial services client is seeking a UX Designer to join their Digital team. In this Consultant role, you will lead complex projects, delivering interaction design and visual artifacts (web and mobile native) that are aligned with our client’s Design System, focused on client-first experiences, and conducive to the success of their business objectives.
You will be an individual contributor with advanced Interaction Design skills and working knowledge of other disciplines and business practices. You will have domain fluency and provide technical and market guidance to others while making decisions about complex, ambiguous problems impacting product and business outcomes. You will use your expert understanding of user and business needs to define metrics and test outcomes. And you will plan and execute projects collaboratively.
Creating experiences through digital products is the responsibility of interaction designers. In an agile environment, you will collaborate with team members and stakeholders to analyze, design, and communicate your design vision. From idea generation to implementation, you will be involved in every step of the process.
What you would work on:
Interaction Design Strategy
- Understand user interface patterns and behaviors and use that understanding to drive user comprehension and improve task performance.
- Use visualizations and interactions to support analytical thinking with large data sets.
- Facilitate design critique, evaluate interactions for inclusivity, and provide expert advice and guidance to cross-functional teams
- Facilitate ideation sessions and collaborative work activities
- Act as the interaction design subject-matter expert for the product design team.
Artifact Creation
- Use a comprehensive understanding of interaction design theory, research data, and best practices to inform design decisions.
- Design artifacts of high complexity to communicate task flows, touchpoints, behaviors, and information exchange
- Create complex low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to explore, communicate, and validate ideas.
- Create complex prototypes to provide delivery specifications for development.
- Present interaction design work to more senior stakeholders
Research and Testing
- Facilitate usability testing
- Participate in or initiate research activities
- Research interaction design strategies in the financial services sector and perform competitive audits pertinent to specific design or business goals
- Perform pattern, micro-interaction, and component design audits where appropriate.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
- 7+ years of experience in designing usable interfaces across multiple channels and platforms
- Strong technical depth and breadth of expertise in Interaction Design practice theory / tools like Figma, Confluence, Jira, Mural.
- Experience designing and launching digital products
- Proficiency in performing end-to-end Usability Testing Studies.
- Experience working on cross-functional teams and in agile environments.
- Storyteller: experience informing and influencing decisions by presenting sound experience design recommendations.
Nice to have
- Financial Industry and Self-Directed Brokerage experience
- Hands-on experience with various UX research methods
- Systems Thinking
Soft Skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills,
- Ability to collaborate with other designers and cross-functional team members,
- Ability to manage stakeholders and build relationships.
- Experience in facilitating workshops is a nice to have.
