Our client, a well-known pharmaceutical brand, is seeking a Technical Web Strategist for their consumer business.
The Web Strategist has a key responsibility of supporting and evolving Web Channel capabilities and user experience for business united across customer segments or therapeutic areas inclusive of both Healthcare Professional (HCP) and HCC. This person works closely with Product Owners and other strategy leads to collaborates with Marketing/Promotion and Agile Teams.
This individual provides expertise, defines solutions that enable optimal customer experience, and helps to define the appropriate guidance to ensure web marketing resources are meaningful to customers and compliant. The Web Strategist has a high degree of empowerment and is self-directed to manage the roadmap for their assigned segment’s capabilities. The Web Strategist supports standards, processes and tools used to execute web projects to provide the best customer/user experience for their segment.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintain web channel standards and/or templates, including updating guidance documents, our documentation site, and assisting with the review and approval process.
Regularly monitor digital design trends and innovations to enhance features and capabilities of our design system and define the development requirements for successful implementation.
Coordinate the integration of new features by working closely with design team members, IT, and development teams by assisting with Functional Requirement Specification (FRS) and solution design documentation.
Work collaboratively across stakeholders in design, IT, and development to help identify and implement areas for process improvement
Support Agile methodologies using Jira, assisting with backlog refinement sessions, writing and prioritizing user stories, and planning.
Ensure web capabilities are designed based on optimal CX/UX
Engage with marketing/promotion and agile teams to share and reinforce best practices and standards
Work with IT to manage ongoing updates/ enhancements to the product roadmap, including theme versioning and feature releases.
Support research, prototyping, and testing efforts and look at analytics to find areas of opportunity in Merck’s web ecosystem
Partnership/education of legal, regulatory, and marketing teams on:
Best practices and how to apply them to our web products
Standardized design system components and templates
Revisions to design and review processes to increase speed to market and mitigate “deviations”
Education Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree is required.
Advanced degree preferred.
Required Experience and Skills
Minimum of 5 years digital marketing experience, marketing agency, marketing support, and/or digital channel innovation
Minimum of 7 years of professional work experience
Ability to deal with high complexity projects
Proficiency in digital marketing strategy and execution of marketing campaigns specific to web
Hands-on experience in UX/CX design, creating, maintaining, or working with a design system, ensuring consistency across products and platforms.
Proficiency in tools including Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Jira, and an understanding of WordPress
Experience in conducting user research, usability testing, and user interviews to gather insights and validate design decisions
Demonstrated ability to work alongside product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to align design with business goals and technical feasibility.
Preferred Experience and Skills
Experience developing and executing marketing strategy successfully while collaborating cross-functionally and building consensus, with effective project management expertise.
Experience planning and rolling out new capabilities, and the ability to identify and implement scalable process improvements using a data-motivated approach.
Agile experience strongly preferred
Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with the ability to develop creative/non-traditional solutions for testing, undefined problems.
Analytical skills with the ability to make informed decisions based on data
Agile decision maker with the ability to ensure a collaborative, iterative and transparent process for all stakeholders involved.
Ability to collaborate and influence – displays strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, has excellent communication and negotiation skills and demonstrates ability to lead, advocate and develop and strengthen business partnerships
Change Management Skills – ability to gain sponsorship for change and work as a change agent to effectively drive change required
Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders
Self-motivated; communicate proactively and effectively, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills

Other Requirements
Compensation Range: $110 – $115K (DOE)
The range provided is our reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and location.
