About the Role:
This position provides on-site support for basic to intermediate requests related to applications, IT end-user devices, and infrastructure. You will manage IT best practices and industry standards for data center operations and plant floor telecommunication closets, ensuring the smooth operation of our critical systems. This role demands a high degree of creativity and latitude, as you’ll be empowered to find solutions and drive improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- End-User Support: Provide comprehensive support for PCs, printers, scanners, mobile phones, and tablets, utilizing remote PC management tools and on-site troubleshooting. This involves a significant amount of time on the manufacturing floor, requiring physical tasks such as lifting up to 30 lbs and climbing stairs/ladders to access equipment in various locations, including mezzanine platforms.
- Cybersecurity: Implement client patching via BigFix to maintain cybersecurity protection on end devices.
- Hardware Management: Perform hardware refresh and repair (break-fix), including powering up/down infrastructure equipment in the data center.
- Network Management: Perform and support network change controls, and possess a strong understanding of routing and switching protocols (VLANs, Spanning Tree, etc.). Experience with Cisco hardware and similar technologies is highly desired.
- IT Infrastructure: Manage IT best practices and industry standards for data center operations and plant floor telecommunication closets (Cornerstone).
- Collaboration: Interface effectively with plant business personnel, outside vendors, launch teams, and Global Telecom engineering staff.
- Incident Management: Coordinate fact-finding, business impact assessments, and initiate the incident management process, acting as a focal point for communication between central support and business partners. Over time, you will become technically adept with all on-site systems and be able to execute site playbooks for incident handling.
- Project Support: Contribute to IT projects, including the ongoing rollout of ServiceNow, Windows 10 upgrades, data center migration, and deployment of cybersecurity initiatives, including controls network macro-segmentation. Support the deployment of new product lines related to EV battery cooling and gas engine fuel delivery systems.
- Asset Management: Utilize corporate IT tools for asset management, patching, and software installation.
Technical Skills and Experience:
- Hands-on experience configuring, supporting, and deploying Cisco and similar hardware.
- Strong networking knowledge (routing, switching, VLANs, NAT/PAT, VPNs, IPSec, TCP/IP).
- Proficiency in supporting PCs, printers, and a variety of applications (office and production data collection/reporting).
- Experience with data, video, and voice services.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow, BigFix, Bomgar, MS Teams & Slack, and monitoring tools.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
