The Production Specialist/Engineer is a key team player in ensuring the successful implementation of new design intentions for our products. In this role, you will provide expertise in production mechanics and template building, combined with a strong design acumen, to uphold the high standards that define our team.
We are seeking an experienced Production Specialist/Engineer who is passionate about production and user experience design. You will collaborate with designers and engineers to create high-quality products for iWork and its users.

- Familiarity with GitHub, Terminal, and Radar
Role Description
As a Production Specialist/Engineer, you will translate designs into technical products, including templates and themes across all three iWork applications. This role requires:
- Strong production skills, including layout, typography, and color accuracy
- A keen eye for inconsistencies in design execution
- A user-centric approach, ensuring that templates and app features enhance the end-user experience
- Highly organized file management, structuring files accurately for seamless workflow integration
- The ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards
- Flexibility and problem-solving skills to address evolving production needs and software updates
- A deep understanding of our design standards and aesthetic
Detailed Responsibilities
Content (Templates)
- Collaborate with Design & HI teams to create new templates
- Build templates with technical precision, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established methods
- Conduct audits of template features, functions, imagery, and placeholder text
- Pressure-test new template designs, identifying discrepancies and working with engineers to develop solutions
- Accessibility (AX) testing for new templates and sample documents
- Internal QA, cross-checking content to ensure bug-free implementation
New Feature Implementation
- Work closely with Engineering, Design & HI teams to support new feature development
- Adapt content creation processes to integrate new app features
- Inform Engineering about content creation/import dependencies
GitHub & Version Control
- Manage repos, track file changes, and resolve conflicts
- Use SourceTree and Terminal for GitHub management
- Deploy ENG updates by creating Pull Requests for multiple repositories
- Collaborate with Engineering to refine workflow processes
Radar & Bug Investigations
- Diagnose app and content issues identified by QA
- Clearly document bug reports, proposed fixes, and necessary design adjustments
- Work closely with the Design team to maintain template integrity while implementing fixes
Tools & Process Enhancements
- Communicate with Engineering regarding tool updates
- Define and test process enhancements to optimize content workflows
Localization
- Ensure regional template designs maintain functionality and visual integrity
- Collaborate with localization teams to address layout issues and resolve bugs
Education & Experience
- 5+ years of experience (This is not an entry-level position)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage highly technical production workflows
Compensation
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $65.21 to $72.46 per hour.
