Software Engineer

Overview

As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, production releases, and on-call support of React.js-based UI frameworks and backend systems for our client’s applications.

What You’ll Do:

• Design and develop UI components using React.js and frontend technologies with a focus on scalability, latency, and resiliency.
• Participate in architecture and code reviews to ensure high-quality code.
• Engage in scrum ceremonies, including grooming, planning, demos, and retrospectives.
• Contribute to the team’s service architecture, data architecture, DevOps, infrastructure as code, deployment pipelines, and public cloud services.
• Adhere to enterprise architecture and coding standards.
• Create, enhance, and integrate APIs using React.js and Java.
• Participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure operational excellence.
• Take responsibility for development and operational aspects of Chewy’s systems.
• Drive innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development.
• Debug production issues in Chewy’s services and tech stack.
• Be a hands-on engineer, spending most of your time writing code and debugging complex issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Computer Science) or equivalent work experience.
• 4+ years of experience in front-end technology.
• 3+ years of software development experience in React.js framework.
• 1+ years of software development in Java/Spring Boot stack.
• Experience in professional software engineering practices throughout the full software development lifecycle, including:
• Designing, developing, conducting code reviews
• Managing source control, overseeing build processes
• Testing, deployment, and operations
• Strong Computer Science fundamentals, including:
• Object-oriented design
• Data structures
• Algorithm design
• Problem-solving & complexity analysis
• Analytical abilities, design skills, and working knowledge of design patterns.
• Experience in designing, building, and deploying features.
• Ability to learn domain knowledge in e-commerce.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $59 to $66 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
