Summary: 

The main function of the Usability Researcher in this role is to conduct qualitative research on a wide variety of products within Microsoft AI, including understanding customers’  needs, preferences, and behaviors related to a product or service while collaborating closely with the product team. The researcher is responsible for conducting quick-turnaround studies, documenting the output, and analyzing the data to generate insights and recommendations. 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Plan and conduct usability studies with customers to understand their workflows, pain points, goals, and motivations. 
  • Document the output of the interviews in a well-organized and detailed manner. 
  • Analyze the qualitative data to identify patterns, themes, and opportunities for improvement. 
  • Create reports to communicate the findings and recommendations to engineers, designers, product managers, and other stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the research insights are incorporated into the product development process.

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. 
  • Strong ability to work independently and to manage one’s time. 
  • Ability to work quickly and to juggle tasks. 
  • Expertise in qualitative research methods, such as interviewing, benchmarking studies, usability testing (moderated and unmoderated). 
  • Proficiency in qualitative data analysis. 
  • Experience in creating compelling presentations and reports using tools such as Microsoft 
  • PowerPoint and Microsoft Word. 

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or equivalent training required. 
  • 3-7 years of experience working as a UX Researcher on consumer products required. 

Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience:

  1. Minimum 3 years experience with user research
  2. Minimum 3 years experience with working on multiple quick turnaround projects.
  3. Minimum 3 years experience with writing reports and working with teams in English
