The temp staff member will be working on UX design for Mobile SysUI, which is critical to the Mobile platform, business, and ecosystem. The Mobile platform has 3B+ users and is the core operating system across mobile, tablet, and foldable products delivered by our client, and from large OEM partners. This role is essential to supporting several SysUI workstreams that are part of Mobile’s 2024 and 2025 OKRs and goals.
Overall Responsibilities:
Advocate for UX design –
- Build consensus across teams and gain support for design strategy across stakeholders. Communicate design approach to other designers or stakeholders (e.g., product manager), addressing and anticipating challenges and questions.
Create design deliverables –
- Collaborate with engineers to communicate, negotiate, and/or influence design intention. Guide design specifications (e.g., red-lines, mock-ups, or product models) for implementation.
Creating design solutions –
- Create innovative design solutions to user, product, and business problems. Anticipate evolving design constraints and communicate rationale of choices related to design solutions.
Design execution –
- Apply, adapt, and/or define UX writing and content design frameworks for user experiences, including principles, patterns, and systems. Leverage writing and design tools to visualize ideas or develop mock-ups or prototypes to drive the product vision forward. Tailor deliverables based on product or platform requirements independently. Identify and follow writing and design templates, style guides, and accessibility guidelines.
Design process and vision (UX Design) –
- Lead a holistic design process, design system, or design language across teams or products. Perform design and testing processes and help develop and generate support for a design vision with partners.
Designing for impact –
- Create design solutions based on user insights, business needs, and industry trends that further business objectives. Support stakeholders in achieving key performance indicators (KPIs).
Designing for user needs –
- Guide UX designers in creating design concepts for product ideation and/or user research/testing or conduct research independently to inform design. Seek research insights to develop the appropriate design direction.
Iteration of design –
- Drive improvements in design based on UX testing and stakeholder input and provide input and feedback to engage stakeholders on product design and achieve product goals.
Planning and prioritization –
- Contribute to developing project priorities in alignment with larger project goals, and coordinate allocation of resources within the project. Act on opportunities to expand responsibilities within the immediate product team.
Understanding the product –
- Use and propose new, key data and metrics to evaluate product impact, understand the product ecosystem, user trends, and industry (e.g., competitors) by collaborating across teams when developing design solutions.
Understanding user needs –
- Propose ideas to improve UX by analyzing or anticipating user needs through collaboration with others, and solve constraints in strategy, product, or technology.
Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:
This role will be responsible for producing UX designs and deliverables in support of top Mobile operating system projects.
- Creating mocks, specs, and assets for several areas, including: new features that we need to deliver on, the BC25 UI refresh, quality across core surfaces including Launcher and Livespace, and the integration of new AI models and capabilities.
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional partners including eng and PM to define and scope requirements, and support execution and delivery. Producing guidelines and specs to support eng in high-quality implementation, and providing feedback and filing bugs for anything that isn’t implemented according to spec.
- Working with researchers to build low to medium fidelity prototypes for testing various design concepts and mocks, to get feedback from users. Iterating on designs and solutions based on feedback to optimize the user experience against technical constraints.
Skill/Experience/Education:
Mandatory:
- Interaction design, UX design, product design, user experience, user interface design
- Collaboration and communication, working with cross-functional partners and stakeholders
- Creating high-fidelity mockups and low fidelity interactive prototypes
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- 10 years experience
Desired:
- Background or experience in designing for mobile platforms, operating systems, or apps (Android experience is a plus)
- Strong visual design skills and design aesthetic
- Strong systems and framework level thinking
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $71.87 to $79.86 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
