We are working with a client to identify a Digital Merchandising Director responsible for driving the gender consumer strategy across digital platforms to meet or exceed sales, margin, and other key business targets. This person will lead the digital merchandising and assortment strategy, set expectations to optimize current sales, and respond to emerging trends. They will play a crucial role in aligning product priorities with brand strategies to elevate the right products in line with business goals.

In this role, the Digital Merchandising Director will oversee the digital merchandising function for Kids North America Digital, managing a team responsible for building product assortments and managing the day-to-day in-season business to maximize sales. Although this position does not involve direct team management, the Director will serve as a key leader in driving results against business goals and seasonal objectives. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive tangible business results while gaining expertise in leading a digital merchandising function. Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive Strategy: Define and execute the strategic direction for products within the digital ecosystem, ensuring franchise health through effective assortment, buying, and trade decisions.
  • Optimize Business: Lead efforts to maintain business health across the portfolio, ensuring seasonal and in-season sales targets are met or exceeded.
  • Accountability: Serve as the main point of accountability for digital merchandising, working cross-functionally to ensure alignment between product, marketing, and consumer insights.

Primary Functions:

  1. Drive Accountability:
    • Define and drive the strategic intent of each product within digital channels.
    • Ensure franchise health across digital platforms through effective assortment, buying, and trade decisions.
    • Communicate gender business performance, consumer trends, and competitive landscape with cross-functional teams.
  2. Drive Strategy:
    • Develop seasonal, consumer-right assortment strategies for digital platforms, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment.
    • Influence digital marketing and visual merchandising strategies to reflect business priorities.
    • Maintain awareness of gender-specific consumer trends and marketplace insights.
  3. Optimize Business Health:
    • Analyze in-season business results and market trends to influence merchandising decisions.
    • Lead digital weekly and monthly business reviews, providing data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage excess inventory, pricing, and promotional strategies.

Team Leadership:

  • Act as a key leader in cross-functional seasonal execution, preparing the team and partners for go-to-market moments.
  • Align with marketing and consumer general managers on key seasonal product stories and priorities.
  • Support talent development within the merchandising function and foster a culture of connection, networking, and mentorship.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in digital merchandising, retail buying, and product strategy.
  • Strong understanding of consumer insights, retail and financial acumen, and ability to translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Ability to manage multi-season planning and work effectively with cross-functional teams to execute merchandising strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience in both physical and digital merchandising.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a focus on team engagement and mentorship.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $65 to $68 hourly. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
