The main function of a Software Test Engineer is to develop, implement, and document all testing activities, including test planning, test documentation, test execution, defect tracking and reporting, including follow-up and issue resolution.

Candidate Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required – 5+ Years of Experience (Really needs to just have the must have hard skills)
  • Degrees or certifications required – Masters level EE (Electrical Engineering) is a NICE TO HAVE
  • Disqualifiers – N/A; Having a RF Engineering or Wireless focus (is A must have)
  • Best vs. Average –
  • Qualcomm and BLE chipsets, with prior experience with QSPR and / or IQFact test packages. This would be for Wifi / BT / GPS testing. No immediate need for cellular. BT5
  • Lite Point or Rhoade and Schwartz Hardware Experience
  • Performance Indicators –
  • Fast-Paced environment with multiple test systems/releases.
  • Releasing code every 6 weeks

Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience

  1. 5+ Years of Experience Wifi/BT/Signal measurements (what’s actually measured with the equipment)
  2. 5+ Years of Experience L1-L5, Electrical signal loss, S Parameters.
  3. Basic Experience (3-4 Years of Experience) Python or PowerShell Scripting language experience (someone who can go through the set-up and make it something we can deploy).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Execute test plans, scenarios, scripts or procedures
  • Test system modifications to prepare for implementation
  • Develop testing programs that addresses areas such as database impacts, software scenarios, or usability
  • Document software defects, using a bug tracking system, and report defects to software developers
  • Identify, analyze and document problems with program function, output, online screen or content
  • Monitor bug resolution efforts and track successes
  • Create or maintain databases of known test defects
  • Plan test schedules or strategies in accordance with project scope or delivery dates

Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
  • 8-10 years experience required
  • Experience testing software
  • Experience writing test documentation such as Test Plans, scripts and test results reports
  • Ability to analyze/interpret test results and provide recommendations to improve testing

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $70.19 to $77.99 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
