Packaging/Display & Mechanical Production Artist – Packaging 
Department: Creative

*This role is remote until May 2025 and then will go partial on-site 2 to 3 days a week*

Aquent Studios is  seeking a highly detail-oriented and technically proficient Packaging & Mechanical Production Artist to adapt global packaging artwork to meet US market requirements and specifications. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring our packaging is both visually appealing and compliant with all regulations while supporting the creation of impactful in-store displays for this leading beauty company!

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Manage and execute tasks involved with packaging localization for US markets.
  • Work closely with Art Directors to prepare mechanicals from display renderings.
  • Work on various design and production projects to assist the US Creative team.
  • Manage assets for the Creative team.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • US Packaging Localization
  • Share Global packaging artwork with US Creative team
  • Review localized mechanicals against Global packaging artwork
  • Review online and printed proofs against Global match prints and approved US mechanicals
  • Coordinate and partner with Global team on edits and specs
  • Attend Artwork Status meetings (4 meetings a week)
  • Attend press checks (Up to 10 times a year, to an East Coast printer)
  • Review production sample books for color range
  • Download final packaging files and save on the server for US Creative team

Promotional Display Mechanical Preparation

  • Transition display rendering into pre-production mechanical layouts on final dielines
  • Collect hi-re images and package prepared mechanical layout files to send to mechanical house
  • Work with Art Directors on approving and releasing final artwork for printers

Asset Management & Graphic Design

  • Break down final layered assets from agencies into separate items, create low-res versions, and save them on the server for the US Creative team
  • Download and save assets from Opera (client’s asset management app)
  • Extract logos from packaging files for US Creative team
  • Create product images for planogram at 100% scale for the US Creative team to use in promotional display and permanent merchandising renderings
  • Work on various print design projects under guidance of Art Directors

Comps (packaging)

  • Source and manage comp requests for Marketing and Sales teams (twice a year)

Skills Required:

  • Proven experience in creating comprehensive brand expression (5+ years)
  • Must be able to do quality hands-on work at a fast pace and under tight deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task, make quick decisions, and problem solve
  • Must be able to assess priorities, organizing workloads.
  • Strong attention to design and color detail and expert knowledge of print process.
  • Must be a team player but needs to be able to work independently where necessary.
  • Basic trimming, cutting and comping skill.
  • Expert knowledge in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
