As a CMF Designer, you will be responsible for the development of CMF strategy, execution of color, materials, and finishes for  hardware. You will manage multiple projects and accurately document, track, and release CMF information per product requirement meeting aggressive timelines. You will be leading the advanced material research and innovation that push the boundaries while collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation into production. Our ideal CMF Designer holds high standards for quality and attention to details, and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced dynamic team environment.

 

Job responsibilities:

· Lead design development of color, materials, and finishes for both prototypes and production by collaborating with cross-functional teams including design and manufacturing.

· Take ownership of CMF documentation & technical graphics, and deliver a unified vision for the color, materials, and finish design.

· Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers & vendors and manage  CMF design execution by reviewing/approving the pre-production sample parts.

· Investigate new resources for materials and fabrication process to ensure innovative designs.

· Independently source and maintain a comprehensive internal library of inspirational, advanced, and relevant materials and finishes.

· Collaborate with engineers on front-end designs and DFM/DFA reviews, and achieve best production quality in terms of craftsmanship, cost, and engineering.

· Sync up with other designers, engineers, and program managers across different time zones with expected early morning and/or late evening time online meetings weekly, 1-2 domestic business trips monthly, and 2-4 international trips annually.

 

Basic Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, or related design field.

· 5+ years of experience in R&D for consumer electronics and manufacturing process for CMF.

· Proficiency in communicating design vision using Adobe Creative Suite(photoshop,illustrator, and etc).

· Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills to clearly articulate the rationale behind design decisions.

· Must be able to operate precision color and gloss meters for sample validations.

· Submission of a portfolio or work samples.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

· 3D CAD and visualization experience.

· Working knowledge of plastic injection molding, metal fabrication techniques, resin development, coating technologies, plastics decoration processes, fabrics and textiles.

· Skilled at bringing cross functional teams into the research and development process.

· Microsoft Office for business presentations.

 

“The target hiring compensation range for this role is the equivalent of $36.12 to $40.13 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
