Our rail client is looking for a Social Media Specialist to join their team. This is a hybrid position with both remote and in-office work. Office location is in north Fort Worth.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Administer all BNSF social channels and Rail Talk corporate blog, including engaging with the public, responding to comments and questions, updating or deleting content, moderating submitted posts, publishing articles, etc. Monitor social channels for urgent engagement on a daily basis.
  • Create approved content for publication on BNSF social media channels and corporate blog. This can include writing social posts or long-form articles; taking or editing photos or videos; creating graphics; and occasionally attending events to cover a story.
  • Monitor and report on online mentions of BNSF and, when appropriate, help coordinate BNSF’s response.
  • Create and distribute analytics reporting of BNSF online content’s performance as needed.
  • Work with Senior Manager Social Media, Director External Communications, and internal clients to help plan and execute online communications.
  • Stay apprised of social media and web trends and best practices and make recommendations to keep BNSF’s online messaging fresh and engaging while achieving business objectives.

Primary Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in a related field, such as journalism, communications, public relations, social media.
  • Three or more years of experience managing social media channels and planning and creating social media and website content in a corporate, governmental, non-profit or agency environment.
  • Strong online content portfolio required. Demonstrated writing, editing, graphic design skills. Ability to write compelling copy and create engaging social media posts as well as longer articles for our Rail Talk blog.
  • Proficiency with photo editing in Adobe Photoshop or similar software preferred, and some experience with a range of content creation tools (examples could include Canva, Premiere Pro, Premiere Rush, After Effects, Illustrator, etc.)
  • Experience with at least one major social media management platform (Hootsuite, Buffer, etc.)
  • Experience using at least one social media analytics tracking tool (Meltwater, Brandwatch, Social Studio, etc.) to create and distribute reports.
  • Strong knowledge of features, best practices and comparative strengths and disadvantages of major social media channels. Current knowledge of social media trends, techniques and technologies.
  • Experience working diplomatically with internal clients while maintaining corporate standards.
  • Experience managing multiple assignments on deadline and publishing to a schedule.

Additional Qualifications

  • Video shooting and editing skills are a plus.
  • Familiarity with AP Style is a plus.
