About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Power BI Developer/Analyst to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI. You will work closely with various business units to understand their data analysis and reporting needs, translating those requirements into effective and insightful dashboards and reports that drive informed decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, a passion for data visualization, and a solid understanding of data modeling principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders from different departments to understand their data analysis, reporting, and dashboarding needs.
  • Data Modeling & Transformation: Design and develop robust and efficient data models within Power BI, including establishing relationships, creating calculated columns and measures using DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).
  • Report & Dashboard Development: Create interactive and visually appealing Power BI reports and dashboards that provide clear, actionable insights for business users.
  • Data Source Connectivity: Connect to various data sources (e.g., SQL databases, Excel, SharePoint, cloud data warehouses, APIs) and ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Performance Optimization: Optimize Power BI reports and dashboards for performance, ensuring quick load times and efficient data refresh.
  • Data Governance & Security: Implement row-level security (RLS) and ensure data governance best practices are followed within Power BI.
  • Documentation & Training: Create and maintain documentation for Power BI solutions, including data models, reports, and dashboards. Provide training and support to end-users to maximize their adoption and understanding of the tools.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively with data engineers, data scientists, and other IT professionals to ensure seamless data flow and integration.
  • Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Identify and resolve issues related to Power BI reports, data refreshes, and data quality.
  • Stay Current: Keep abreast of the latest Power BI features, updates, and best practices to continuously enhance our BI capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Proven experience (typically 2-5+ years depending on seniority) working with Microsoft Power BI, including extensive experience in dashboard and report development.
  • Strong proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for creating complex measures and calculated columns.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases and strong SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into understandable insights.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with other BI tools (e.g., SAP Business Objects, Spotfire).
  • Knowledge of Cloud data services (e.g., Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Azure SQL Database).
  • Familiarity with Python or R for data analysis.
  • Experience with data visualization best practices and user experience (UX) principles.
