As a Pattern Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the research and development of cutting-edge athletic wear, from initial concept to the final product. You’ll collaborate closely with designers, interpreting their visions and translating them into precise 2D patterns. Your technical expertise in pattern making and fit will be essential in refining designs, ensuring they meet both aesthetic and functional requirements. You’ll be hands-on in creating initial prototypes, incorporating feedback from design and development teams, and perfecting the fit and construction of each garment. Your meticulous attention to detail will ensure that final product specifications meet the highest standards of quality and manufacturability.
What You’ll Do:

  • Transform design concepts into 2D patterns, collaborating with design and marketing teams.
  • Provide technical expertise in pattern making and fit, contributing to design refinement and product development.
  • Create first prototypes and incorporate design changes based on feedback from fit sessions.
  • Inspect and evaluate samples, ensuring they meet quality and design specifications.
  • Develop and revise product specifications, including construction details, for production.
  • Optimize construction methods to ensure profitability and efficient manufacturing.

Must-Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in pattern making or adjusting patterns for women’s athletic wear, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven ability to create patterns from scratch and modify existing designs.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, particularly for knit fabrics.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to represent the brand and potentially interact with athletes.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with performance wear or outerwear design.
  • Familiarity with pattern design and product lifecycle management software.
  • Knowledge of garment construction for woven fabrics.
