Software Test Engineer

This is a hybrid role in Vancouver.
Pay Range: $30/hr – $33/hr​

Your expertise in environment testing will directly impact the final product, contributing to a seamless and captivating player journey. Partnering with a leading entertainment company through Aquent, you’ll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and push the boundaries of game development.
As a key member of the Development Support team, you’ll collaborate closely with developers, providing early testing, meticulous documentation, and crucial feedback. Your insights will ensure a smooth development process and a top-tier gaming experience. Be the go-to expert for all things environment testing, collaborating with QA and development teams to identify and resolve issues, ultimately contributing to the creation of an unforgettable gaming world.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct rigorous testing of game environments, focusing on cover functionality, collision and geometry, navmesh, assets, set dressing, text and signage, LOD and texture quality, lighting and shadows, content load, VFX quality, and vistas.
• Create comprehensive test cases and briefs to document testing procedures and results.
• Provide timely and actionable feedback to QA Leads and development teams on the health and testing status of assigned areas/features.
• Collaborate with Core QA to answer design questions and address testing needs.
• Effectively estimate testing efforts to ensure accurate project planning and execution.
• Continuously learn new technologies and refine skills to stay at the forefront of game development and testing practices.

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Experience across multiple development cycles, with a focus on environment testing.
• Strong understanding of various aspects of environment testing, including cover functionality, collision and geometry, navmesh, asset testing, set dressing, text and signage, LOD and texture quality, lighting and shadows, content load and VFX quality, and vista testing.
• Proven ability to write clear and concise testing instructions and briefs.
• Experience estimating testing efforts and managing time effectively.
• A passion for gaming and a commitment to delivering high-quality player experiences.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interface with both QA and development teams.
• Strong documentation and organizational skills.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

• Experience with Unreal Engine.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Perforce, and SharePoint.
• Adaptable teaching skills, with the ability to cater to diverse learning styles.
