Make a real impact on energy management as a skilled Weather Forecaster with a leading energy company. Partnering with Aquent, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting energy procurement, hedging, and position management by providing accurate and timely temperature forecasts. Your expertise will directly influence critical business decisions and contribute to the stability of energy resources.

As a Weather Forecaster, you will be responsible for:

• Producing temperature forecasts and detailed forecast discussions to support Energy Procurement and Management (EPM) activities.
• Participating in and leading discussions about weather conditions during daily Weather Services Team calls and Incident Management Team’s Forecast Weather Calls.
• Monitoring weather conditions, particularly during high-impact weather events, and providing updates to relevant stakeholders.
• Integrating various weather outlooks and briefing users on potential uncertainties and impacts.
• Analyzing renewable power production (wind, solar, hydro) and assessing how weather conditions influence these resources.

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Demonstrated understanding of how extreme weather events can impact an electric utility.
• Specialized knowledge of the geographic area.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

• Experience forecasting one-to-seven-day ahead surface temperatures.
• Experience forecasting weather using various observational and model data (surface and upper air).
• Knowledge of NWS systems and experience using NOAA products.
• Experience forecasting weather for California and the Western United States.
• Experience forecasting conditions related to wildfires.
• Experience with long-term weather forecasting (monthly or longer).

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $58.14 to $64.60 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
