This pivotal role requires a deep understanding of payroll regulations and a passion for accuracy. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll operations, from processing to compliance. Your meticulous nature and commitment to efficiency will be essential to ensuring the smooth operation of the payroll department.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all daily payroll operations, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
- Guarantee accurate payment and reporting in accordance with tax laws and company policies.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the production and distribution of employee tax statements.
- Manage the development, implementation, and administration of payroll records systems and procedures.
- Handle payroll inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.
- Collaborate with other departments on projects such as acquisitions.
- Oversee payroll systems maintenance and integrity, including testing system changes.
- Plan and manage department workflow, including payroll calendars and processing schedules.
- Oversee payroll staff, including work allocation, training, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure department confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Maintain SOX compliance for the payroll department.
- Develop the annual budget for the payroll department.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent payroll experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of payroll, employment, and income tax laws and regulations.
- Experience managing multi-state payroll.
- Proficiency in automated payroll and HRIS.
- Ability to make sound procedural decisions involving confidential information under pressure.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent PC skills, including intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $36 to $40 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
