Senior Account Director – Strategic Client Lead | Hybrid, Richmond Area

Compensation: $118K – $128K DOE, Benefits

Location: This is a hybrid position based in the Richmond, VA area. Candidates must be able to work on-site at least once a week and attend in-person client meetings as needed.

We are partnering with a premier agency partner who is seeking a Senior Account Director to lead key client relationships and integrated marketing efforts across a dynamic portfolio of mission-driven organizations. This is a high-impact role for a strategic marketing leader who thrives in a fast-paced agency environment and is passionate about delivering measurable outcomes.

About the Role:

This role offers the opportunity to work with clients who are making a difference—across sectors such as government, education, and nonprofit. The Senior Account Director will serve as the strategic lead and primary client partner, driving integrated marketing campaigns, managing budgets, and mentoring a team of account professionals.

You’ll be responsible for elevating the client experience, shaping data-informed strategies, and collaborating cross-functionally with creative, digital, and media teams to bring compelling campaigns to life. From ideation through execution, you’ll ensure that every initiative aligns with the client’s goals and contributes to business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the senior strategic lead for a portfolio of client accounts, ensuring alignment between client objectives and marketing strategy
  • Own the development of campaign roadmaps, budgets, and timelines — with accountability for delivery, quality, and profitability
  • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities within existing accounts through deep relationship management and innovative thinking
  • Lead and inspire a team of account managers, providing guidance, mentorship, and clear development pathways
  • Act as a key liaison between internal departments and the client, ensuring seamless collaboration and execution
  • Stay ahead of marketing trends and proactively bring new ideas and opportunities to client conversations
  • Champion internal process improvements and contribute to departmental growth initiatives

Qualifications:

  • 7–10+ years of experience in agency (VERY strongly preferred) or client-side marketing roles, with a strong foundation in both traditional and digital channels
  • 5+ years of team leadership or supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated success managing multi-channel campaigns and large client budgets
  • Skilled in strategic planning, client communication, and performance marketing principles
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with agility and attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with strong presentation and pitch experience
  • Proactive problem solver with a collaborative mindset and results orientation
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or equivalent experience
