You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the interventional platform, directly impacting patient care by coordinating and scheduling surgical and procedural cases. As an integral member of the Administrative Work Cell, you will collaborate with physicians and surgery schedulers to optimize the interventional platform’s daily operations. Your meticulous attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills will ensure that cases are scheduled effectively, resources are allocated appropriately, and patients receive timely care.

What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee and manage operating room (OR) grids, durations, and room availability.
  • Centrally schedule surgical and procedural cases, coordinating with OR nursing and anesthesia teams.
  • Manage OR room assignments, including closing and combining rooms as needed.
  • Collaborate with main OR scheduling to coordinate cases and facilitate efficient resource utilization.
  • Manage surgical case adjustments, including rearrangements, cancellations, and edits.
  • Maintain and update surgeon block time, ensuring equitable access to OR resources.
  • Coordinate incoming transplant, emergency, and trauma cases, prioritizing urgent patient needs.
  • Manage high call volumes and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain order and flow in restricted OR areas.
  • Work with preference cards and implement necessary changes to surgical cases.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2-3 years of OR scheduling experience OR 5+ years of surgery scheduling experience
  • Proficiency in EPIC and Microsoft Suite
  • Strong customer service and phone skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to thrive in a high-stress environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with providers, nurses, and staff
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team
  • Adherence to regional and hospital policies and procedures
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to identify areas for improvement

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an OR or hospital setting

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $22.65 to $25.17 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
