Associate Attorney – Bankruptcy

Job Summary

Our client, a reputable law firm with a strong presence in the financial and real estate sectors, is seeking a diligent and motivated Associate Attorney to join our esteemed bankruptcy practice. The Associate Attorney will be responsible for managing a caseload of bankruptcy matters, leveraging their legal expertise to guide clients through the complexities of the bankruptcy process. This role is a cornerstone of our legal operations, ensuring compliance, timely actions, and effective strategies are executed on behalf of our clients.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and approve a wide range of bankruptcy-related pleadings and documents.

  • Manage all facets of Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy cases, including the preparation and filing of Proofs of Claim, Motions for Relief from Stay, Objections to Plan, and Responses to Objections.

  • Handle complex bankruptcy litigation, including adversary proceedings, from inception to resolution.

  • Process and file Payment Change Notices accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Represent the firm and its clients in mediations, depositions, and both telephonic and in-person court hearings.

  • Facilitate settlement negotiations and draft related agreements.

  • Maintain regular and proactive communication with clients, providing updates and strategic counsel through client systems, email, and phone.

  • Undertake other duties and special projects as assigned to support the firm’s objectives.

Requirements & Qualifications

Non-Negotiable Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.

  • Active bar licensure and in good standing with both the Maryland and Virginia State Bars.

  • Proven ability to manage a high-volume caseload efficiently and with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft precise legal documents and communicate effectively with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.

  • Availability and willingness to attend in-person hearings or depositions as required.

  • Demonstrated success working within a structured, deadline-driven professional environment.
