This is a hybrid role, 3 days per week in Toronto office.
What you’ll work on:
UI component design and front-end development for a core platform in the Commercial Banking space, extending, and advocating for the existing design system platform.
Your main responsibilities:

Design system library management

Designing and developing high-fidelity UI components

Advocating and training users of the design system

Build strong relationships with development teams
-
QA to ensure consistent, high-quality implementation of UI components
What You’ll Do:

Architect and implement core design system elements, including design tokens, UI guidelines, and component libraries for web and mobile platforms.

Champion user-centered design principles, ensuring seamless and intuitive experiences across all digital touchpoints.

Identify and develop reusable UI patterns and components, promoting consistency and efficiency across the organization.

Mentor and guide team members on design system best practices, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, refine designs, and ensure successful implementation.

Present design system insights and thought leadership through presentations, workshops, and documentation.

Evaluate designs for inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring a positive experience for all users.

Stay at the forefront of design technology trends, continuously seeking opportunities to improve and enhance the design system.
Must-Haves:
-
BA/BS degree in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), Systems Design/Human Factors Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

A minimum of 7 years of experience in designing and developing user interfaces across multiple platforms.

Proven ability to articulate design strategy, rationale, and logic, effectively communicating benefits and risks associated with design decisions.

Strong expertise with Figma.

Experience in mobile design and/or development (iOS or Android).

Experience creating or contributing to a design system.
Nice-to-Haves:
-
MA/MS degree or certification in a relevant design or technology field.

Experience working within a large organization and an agile environment.

Experience designing user interfaces for native mobile platforms (Android and iOS).

Experience with CSS, JavaScript, and common UI tools and frameworks (Sass, Tailwind, React, Angular).

Knowledge of software services/APIs.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is C$53.75 to C$63.75 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
