Culver City, CA; Hybrid
Date:

Overview

Placement Type:

Temporary

Salary:

$63 to $70 an Hour

Start Date:

About the Role

Our large technology client is seeking an Automation Engineer to join their newly-formed User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Automation team that’s laser-focused on improving quality and speed across internal workflows. In this Consultant role, you will help to build automated systems that eliminate manual steps, streamline enterprise processes, and uphold their high standards—all while making business-critical tools more efficient and scalable.

This isn’t about writing tests for off-the-shelf apps—this is hands-on engineering to automate complex business workflows, increase coverage, and reduce time to market. You’ll be part of a skilled, collaborative team that works closely with other engineers and stakeholders to define, build, and execute smart, scalable test solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with teammates to scope and execute automation projects supporting UAT efforts for mobile and enterprise systems.
  • Write, maintain, and improve Python-based automation scripts to replace manual testing processes and repetitive user interactions.
  • Develop and maintain test cases, automation frameworks, and tools to support end-to-end testing efforts.
  • Participate in daily or weekly check-ins to align on project milestones and progress.
  • Execute manual and automated tests for mobile systems (primarily iOS), including front-end and back-end flows.
  • Track and report testing status, issues, and metrics using standardized tools and workflows.
  • Engage in exploratory testing and provide thoughtful feedback on system behavior and usability.
  • Ask smart questions and contribute to implementation discussions—your curiosity and input are encouraged here.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, UAT, or test automation—particularly in complex, enterprise environments.
  • Strong Python skills for scripting and automation; Java experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Proven ability to design and implement test automation frameworks for end-to-end system validation.
  • Experience working across the entire test lifecycle—from scoping to execution to reporting.
  • Exposure to iOS testing tools like XCTest or XCUITest, and familiarity with Swift.
  • Comfortable with basic front-end and back-end concepts—bonus if you’ve worked in FullStack environments.
  • Understanding of modern dev practices like CI/CD, ideally with tools like Jenkins.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate, ask questions, and share progress clearly.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with dev toolchains and environments (e.g., Xcode, Swift, XCTest).
  • Experience working in enterprise systems, particularly in industries like finance or media/entertainment
  • Exposure to tools like Git, Charles Proxy, or PostgreSQL.
  • Prior work with automation of data reporting or dashboards across systems.

What Success Looks Like

  • You’ll be a trusted team member who others turn to for help, insight, or feedback on automation design.
  • You’ll build efficient, maintainable test suites that reduce manual overhead and catch bugs early.
  • You’ll ask the right questions and help the team stay aligned with fast-moving product and workflow goals.
  • Your work will contribute directly to reducing time to market and improving software quality across teams.

Why This Role?

  • Get in at the ground level of a new team building scalable automation for real business problems.
  • Work alongside technically strong and supportive colleagues in a high-impact, visible team.
  • Contribute to improving internal tools that power some of the most influential products in the world.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $63 to $70/hr. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
