Our leading Credit Union client based in Seattle is looking for a strong Vice President of Marketing to join their lean team!
The Vice President of Marketing is a key leadership role responsible for developing and executing all marketing initiatives in support of our vision, mission, and strategic initiatives. This position is an integral part of the senior leadership team and has direct oversight and responsibility for all marketing, and public relations work, including all branding and creative. The ideal candidate has a data-driven approach when it comes to strategy and planning; and a human centered approach when mentoring and leading teams. As the owner of the brand narrative and communications strategy, the VP of Marketing works with organizational leadership, internal teams and external partners to craft, test and tweak creative, in order to meet KPIs and serve a growth mindset. The VP is responsible for keeping a close eye on budget and respect for approval processes. They are invested in the upward trajectory of the organization, our membership, and the career development of the marketing team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Strategy + Planning:
∙ Work with senior leadership to maintain (and refine as-needed) Verity’s brand positioning, distilling the client’s key differentiators for internal and external stakeholders and is inclusive of multicultural communities
∙ Perform strategic analysis of markets, identifying market drivers, key market segments, competition, issues, and opportunities of multicultural audiences
∙ Co-create and activate differentiated marketing strategies and tactics that build trust and financial wellbeing with diverse communities
∙ Collaborate with PR firm and social/digital partners to develop messaging hierarchy and value propositions tailored to diverse demographic segments
Marketing Campaigns + Initiatives:
∙ Lead the planning, execution, and optimization of integrated marketing campaigns across multiple channels (digital, social, out-of-home (OOH), etc.)
∙ Serve as a liaison between Marketing and the functional areas of the business, ensuring marketing support for strategic initiatives, and compliance of brand standards
∙ Utilize evolving technology to capture and analyze marketing data, enhancing outreach effectiveness
∙ Effectively direct team members, consultants and agency/partners to execute on plans within budget and on schedule
Creative Oversight:
∙ Oversee all aspects of creative, including storytelling, visual brand elements, photo and video, etc. Ideal candidates have demonstrated experience in creative direction or collaboration with a CD/partner in an in-house or agency capacity and have worked to ensure the content and visuals reflect and celebrate multicultural values and experiences.
∙ Direct and manage external agencies and outside contractors, aligning their work with the credit union’s mission and multicultural focus.
Team + Department Leadership:
∙ Build and grow a diverse, inclusive, high-performing marketing team
∙ Set current, long-term priorities, and goals for internal teams, including knowledge management
∙ Empower and inspire individuals to take initiative and bring their best thinking to the table, maintain open relationships that foster learning and career growth, manage annual reviews for direct reports
∙ Prepare an annual department budget, authorize expenditures, and track project costs and results
∙ Ensure compliance of marketing and establish controls to mitigate risks
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
∙ Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, business, or similar
∙ Experience working with and marketing to diverse communities
∙ Experience in marketing roles with a focus on multicultural communities, strongly preferred within a Community Development Financial Institution
∙ Strong understanding of marketing data analytics and tools
∙ Proven work experience as a VP of Marketing, Marketing Director or other senior role preferred
∙ 7+ years’ experience in brand development/stewardship and creative oversite of internal or external partners
∙ 3+ years’ experience in developing, mentoring, and coaching a team of marketing and communications professionals

∙ Financial Stewardship: Ability to prepare and manage a departmental budget, authorize expenditures, and track project costs and results. Ensures marketing initiatives are cost-effective and contribute to the financial health of the credit union.
∙ Strategic Thinking and Planning: Proficiency in developing and refining brand positioning, identifying market drivers and opportunities, and co-creating marketing strategies that align with organizational goals. Skilled in strategic analysis and planning to drive growth and brand differentiation.
∙ Leadership and Team Development: Leverages demonstrated experience in building, mentoring, and leading a diverse, high-performing marketing team. Sets clear priorities and goals, fosters an inclusive environment, and supports career development and knowledge management for team members.
∙ Multicultural Marketing Expertise: Applies proven ability to market to and engage diverse communities. Experience in crafting and executing marketing strategies that build trust and financial wellbeing with multicultural audiences. Ensures marketing materials reflect and celebrate multicultural values and experiences.
∙ Data Driven Decision Making: Utilizes evolving technology and marketing data analytics to capture, analyze, and optimize marketing efforts. Makes informed decisions based on data insights to enhance outreach effectiveness and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
∙ Adaptability and Innovation: Willingness to try new approaches and iterate based on performance. Demonstrated success in identifying and solving problems, challenging the status quo, and leading innovative solutions in a resource-constrained environment.
∙ Compliance and Risk Management/Mitigation: Maintain compliance with marketing regulations and internal controls to mitigate risks. Respect approval processes and adhere to brand standards, ensuring all marketing activities align with organizational policies and legal requirements.
∙ Digital Marketing Proficiency: Plan, execute, and optimize integrated marketing campaigns across digital channels. Collaborate with social and digital partners to develop effective messaging and value propositions tailored to various demographic segments.
∙ Creative Oversight and Direction: Direct creative efforts, including storytelling, visual branding, and multimedia production. Manage external agencies and contractors to ensure alignment with the credit union’s mission and creative vision.
∙ Effective Communication and Public Relations: Deliver excellent public speaking and writing. Communicate effectively with diverse social and economic audiences, internal teams, and external partners. Collaborate with PR firms and other partners to develop and disseminate impactful messaging.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $90 to $100 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
