As a key member of the Development Support team, you will be instrumental in the early stages of product development, providing essential testing and documentation that empowers the core Quality Assurance team. You will be the primary point of contact for both development and QA teams, offering critical insights into product health and facilitating seamless communication. This role offers the chance to dive deep into complex systems, analyze performance, and ensure compatibility across a wide array of hardware and software configurations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with development teams to conduct early-stage testing, proactively identifying potential issues and ensuring robust functionality.
- Create comprehensive test documentation, including test cases and briefs, to guide and streamline the testing process.
- Act as a crucial liaison between development and Quality Assurance teams, fielding design questions and providing timely updates on testing status.
- Deliver insightful feedback to both QA Leads and development teams regarding the health and quality of specific features and areas.
- Proactively identify and address potential roadblocks or challenges that could impact the efficiency of the core QA team.
- Perform detailed analysis of crash reports, isolating root causes and reproducing issues across diverse hardware and software configurations.
- Verify adherence to platform-holder requirements, including operating system updates and security patches.
- Conduct performance testing to ensure optimal frame rates, resolution, input latency, and loading times across all target platforms.
- Test input devices, online features, storage, installation processes, UI compatibility, and save data functionality to guarantee a seamless user experience.
Qualifications:
- Experience across multiple development cycles, with a strong emphasis on platform testing.
- Strong understanding of hardware compatibility, including verifying functionality across various console generations and PC hardware configurations.
- Proficiency in crash investigation and reproduction, capable of detailed analysis and issue isolation.
- Expertise in operating system and firmware compliance, ensuring adherence to platform requirements.
- Demonstrated ability in performance testing, covering frame rates, resolution, input latency, and loading times.
- Experience with input and controller testing, verifying diverse input devices.
- Knowledge of online and network features testing, including cross-platform multiplayer and cloud saves.
- Familiarity with storage and installation testing, covering game installation, uninstallation, updates, and data handling.
- Understanding of UI and display compatibility, ensuring proper scaling, aspect ratios, and accessibility across various screens.
- Experience with save data and progression testing, including cross-save and cloud synchronization.
- Proven experience in writing clear and concise testing instructions or briefs.
- Ability to accurately estimate testing efforts.
- Strong willingness to learn new technologies and continuously develop and refine skills.
- Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, comfortable interacting with both Quality Assurance and Production teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with a leading game engine.
- Experience testing digital rights management (DRM), anti-cheat systems, and data security.
- Experience working with engine and rendering teams.
- Familiarity with common project management and version control tools.
- Strong, adaptable teaching skills, capable of effectively communicating with diverse learners.
This is a temporary augmentation role with a strong chance for extension beyond the initial 6 months. Please note that this role requires working overtime during high-volume periods, which can be up to approximately 16 additional hours per week. Candidates should be comfortable with this requirement. All necessary equipment and software will be provided.
