This is a hybrid role in Vancouver.
Pay Range: $50/hr – $56/hr​

As a Technical Artist, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining the high visual quality and performance of real-time gameplay. Collaborating closely with various teams, including level art, technical animation, and character art, you’ll identify and resolve technical challenges, optimize assets, and contribute to a smooth and immersive player experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve workflow bottlenecks.
  • Optimize run-time performance by reducing content complexity, lighting costs, and draw calls while preserving visual fidelity.
  • Utilize performance analysis tools to pinpoint performance issues and communicate findings to relevant teams.
  • Troubleshoot performance problems related to environments, animations, and character-specific elements.
  • Educate, document technical processes, and communicate effectively with external vendors.
  • Address and resolve reported bugs within the game.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of video game production pipelines.
  • Proven ability to problem-solve and debug technical issues.
  • Strong understanding of Unreal Engine 4 or equivalent game engine technology.
  • Expertise in shader creation and optimization techniques.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D art software packages (e.g., Photoshop, Maya).
  • Scripting/programming experience in Python, C#, and C++.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Experience with Houdini or Substance Designer.
  • Prior experience in game development.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $50/hr – $56/hr.
