Technical Artist / Creative Coder is responsible for the technical aspects of creative asset development. This entails working closely with Design and Engineering to support and develop the production pipeline, develop shaders, and translate designs into code. The focus of the role will be building creative tools. There is a significant amount of production – shared writing and design development integration for things including filters, text effects, video transitions, and other types of creative elements.
Role Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
- Partner closely with the engineering and design teams to produce creative assets by developing shaders and translating designs into code
- Design and manage the technical production pipelines, including developing tools and functional prototypes
- Quickly solve issues with cross-functional leads
- Thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environment
Performance Measurement:
- Performance will be measured on mix of deliverables and feedback (deliverable quality and timeliness, feedback on collaboration as well as quality).
Must-Have Skills:
- 3+ years of experience as a creative coder / technical artist with authoring shaders in GLSL
- Provide portfolio (previous work, projects, etc).
- Experience in creative coding frameworks (openFrameworks, Processing, Cinder, or Three.j)
- Experience programming with JavaScript, Java, C++ or C#
- Solid understanding of computer graphics fundamentals
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Creativity – experience working on creative tools or shaders for mobile products is ideal
- Product design background
- Mobile-specific experience
- Any type of work on graphics engineering or skills / experience in computer graphic fundamentals
Soft Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Problem-solving ability
- Collaboration skills (cross functional with visual designers, software engineers, artists, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong organization skills
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience required
- CS or Media Arts or Digital Media background are nice-to-have
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $57 to $63 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
