Our San Francisco Beauty client is looking for their next Assistant Merchant to join their team. This team is constantly innovating, building brands, and setting trends.

As an Assistant Merchant, you will be integral in shaping the assortment and bringing our products to life across multiple channels. Reporting directly to the Merchant, you will play a vital role in driving our brand strategies and ensuring our offerings resonate with our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage brand assortments for a large portfolio of up to 400 stores, overseeing visual merchandising and adherence to timelines.
  • Maintain consistent communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met and objectives are aligned.
  • Assist in the development and execution of brand and product strategies, contributing to the ongoing refinement of our product pipeline.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and assist in analyzing business performance to inform decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to execute robust 360-degree launch strategies, maximizing product visibility and impact.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging products, and new brands to inform assortment decisions and drive innovation.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of retail buying experience at a major retailer, demonstrating a strong understanding of merchandising principles and practices.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently present ideas to large groups.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with merchant systems.
  • Genuine passion for retail, product, and trends, with a keen eye for identifying market opportunities.
  • Strong analytical skills and a knack for interpreting data to derive actionable insights.
  • Proven negotiation skills and the ability to exert influence to drive desired outcomes.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization abilities, thriving in a fast-paced and complex environment.
  • Positive, collaborative attitude with a track record of building effective working relationships.
  • MUST HAVE 1 years experience in working in a retail buying office.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is 25.00/hr to 28.00/hr.  Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
