Our prominant consulting client is seeking an experienced Supervisor for their in house video studio in NY. Winning candidates will have corporate video studio experience and not broadcast news style studio experience. Must have understanding of camera/tech equipment as well as overall studio operations management experience.
WHAT THIS JOB IS NOT: Video Producer
The Video Studio Supervisor is the creative lead overseeing the daily operations of the video studio, as well as at certain offsite events. Responsibilities include scheduling, creating a positive client experience and managing studio facility operations to ensure optimal functioning and presentation of the studio. They will interface with clients and internal talent on set to maximize creative output and elevate the level of studio projects. Serve as the lead for webcasting technologies and studio production while leading high-level, complex video/audio shoots, and developing detailed project plans. They will support all levels of the organization during the video experience, including coaching “C” suite executives and putting subjects at ease to elicit the best possible experience during the entire video shoot. Direct creative personnel onsite and remotely.
Responsibilities:
• Own the creative look of the video studio shoots and offsite venue productions, including camera shot selections, lighting and sets
• Set up and maintain TV studio sets and ensure the studio output aligns with the brand
• Direct complex live and recorded multicamera shoots both in-studio and on-location
• Lead studio control room teams during production
• Lead post-production on specific studio-based projects
• Maintain overall responsibility for the technical equipment – lights, cameras and sound gear
• Monitor and track the studio’s usage, metrics and dashboard
• Present frequent business updates and key performance indicators
• Liaise with the production team, prior to the recording, to find out what’s required and offer advice on the best equipment for the job
• Develop leading-edge, innovative video solutions with superior content development, audio, visual and shooting style, graphics and animation, sound design and narration
• Schedule video and webcast shoots and coordinate staffing
• Conduct an inspection and set-up process before each recording session, assist with the operation of equipment, arrange for technical specialists and other contractors
• Direct and organize the maintenance of all studio repairs, solving daily issues and formulating long-term solutions
• Work with clients during pre-production phases to foster client relationship building
• Respond to client requests, inquiries and concerns with a sense of urgency
• May operate camera during multicamera recorded shoots
• Research and determine future equipment needs for budget planning purposes
• Collaborate with colleagues for development of sets and on-screen graphics, post-production and crewing needs
Supervision:
• Direct creative personnel onsite and remotely, including supervising, coaching, and performance management.
• Motivate and inspire a creative team, delegate and team effectively
• Review and critique video projects and provide constructive feedback
• Mentor and coach team members to develop conceptual and presentation skills
Experience:
• Bachelors or Associates degree in related field or equivalent training and work experience in video production/post-production
• 8 years of studio supervision experience (as a studio director, production manager, video producer/editor)
• 4 years of experience managing studio personnel (video producers, videographers/photographers) and operations
• Experience directing and collaborating in a corporate environment
• Experienced in interviewing, training, supervising and directing creative talent
• Advanced knowledge of video/digital production, editing, motion graphics and sound mixing techniques
• Strong understanding of live studio production technologies, including directing multicamera switched video productions, live multicamera webcasts in studio and on location, video switchers, studio lighting, sets/backgrounds and audio
• Technical expertise in operating various types of video and DSLR cameras, lenses, lighting and sound equipment with the ability to direct the right shot for the project
• Comprehensive knowledge in design practices, digital trends, innovation and technology
• Strong knowledge in various audio/video editing software (After Effects, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Encoder)
• Proficiency and deep experience in video production practices, techniques, equipment and software, with some exposure to brand marketing
• Experience leading the post-production process
• Excellent project management, organization, teaming, interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiation skills within a client environment
• Strong consultative and facilitating skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to speak effectively with executives and peers while projecting a professional presence
• Ability to work with all levels in the firm, build solid relationships with internal clients and act as a continuous solutions improvement liaison
• Strong influencing skills are required to persuade internal clients to choose an effective deliverable solution within budget requirements
• Collaboration and teaming skills to accomplish common objectives
• Able to make sound judgements and business decisions in a high-paced environment while producing quality work in high-pressure situations
